NARDA is the official organization responsible for developing a system to identify Libyan citizens based on their unique genetic information.
Establishment of the Authority
The National Authority for Genetic Fingerprint Research and Analysis was established by Presidential Council Decision No. 126 of 2019, succeeding the former Genetic Fingerprint Center.
This authority is dedicated to enhancing the genetic fingerprint system for all Libyan citizens, ensuring both progress and safety.
In accordance with Decision No. (126) of 2019 issued by the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord, the authority has been entrusted with the responsibilities previously held by the Genetic Fingerprint Center, along with the following additional duties:

Establishing a genetic fingerprinting system for Libyan citizens and analyzing the samples collected during the National Identification Number program.

Conducting DNA analysis and supplying the relevant authorities with results to effectively meet their needs.

Engaging in research related to DNA, actively monitoring advancements in the field, and implementing innovative techniques to further our understanding and applications of genetic science.
